They arrive by many means
Some carried by air
Others in cars or SUVs or even limos
From more prosperous climates
And able to find purchase
From another's foothold
Forcing natives to migrate elsewhere
Or fade from memory.
They seize on nurtured soils
And sap their vitals
Uprooting perennials
For introductions
To make this place for themselves
Much like whence they came
Until the shallowness of the charade
Withers in desiccation
And blows away.
