October Cherry Blossoms

"In the autumn, the cherry trees' leaves would ripen into golden reds, yellows and browns. There were only one or two exceptions to these seasonal rhythms, for as the trees' leaves started to fall with the approach of winter, the semi-double flowers of Jugatsu-sakura (in Japanese, jugatsu means the tenth month of the year) would bloom, weaving flashes of pinkish-white colour through the trees' slender branches... Equally unusual was Fudan-sakura, also known as the Ever-flowering cherry. These would blossom as early as November and flower until April."
