Use A Hammer
Anyone can drive a nail with a hammer, but to do it right you must (a) hold the handle of it a couple of inches back from its free end, (b) swing it in the arc of a circle as shown in the figure, so that the face of it will hit the nail for nail set squarely on the head, and (c) deliver the blow with the right amount of force. By using the hammer this way it will swing freely with the least amount of effort, and be the most effective.
