This annual festival features mycologists speaking on psychedelic research, decriminalization, and how to cultivate mushrooms.
Founded by Dr. Emanuel Salzman and other pioneering mycophiles in 1981 who were inspired by a mycology-focused conference held at Beth Israel Hospital in Aspen, Colorado.
Telluride was chosen as the setting for a festival celebrating fungi because of its rich fungal biodiversity, ideal climate, and wild natural beauty.
The festival includes events ranging from mushroom forays and ID sessions, hands-on demonstrations, and a mushroom parade. Participants feast on mushroom dinners, myco beer, and live music.
