English author A. A. Milne created the character Winnie-the-Pooh, also called Pooh Bear and Pooh, in a collection of stories about an anthropomorphic stuffed teddy bear in Winnie-the-Pooh in 1926, followed by The House at Pooh Corner in 1928.
Walt Disney Productions licensed film and other rights of Milne's WinnIe-the-Pooh stories from the estate of A. A. Milne in 1961 and adapted the stories into a series of films and television programs with the unhyphenated name "Winnie the Pooh."
Disney has released numerous animated films starring Winnie the Pooh and related characters, starting with the 1966 featurette Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, followed by Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day in 1968, and Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too in 1974. These three featurettes were combined into a feature-length movie, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, in 1977.
Other feature-length films have included Winnie the Pooh and a Day for Eeyore in 1983, The Tigger Movie in 2000, Piglet's Big Movie in 2003, Pooh's Heffalump Movie in 2005, and Winnie the Pooh in 2011.
In addition, there have been dozens of television programs and featurettes produced in recent years, like Winnie The Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year.
