President's Council on Physical Fitness

Founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956 as the President's Council on Youth Fitness and changed to the President's Council on Physical Fitness in 1963 to reflect its role to serve all Americans, the agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services still exists as the renamed President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition, with a new emphasis on nutrition as an element of fitness in 2010. The agency sponsors National Physical Fitness & Sports Month #MoveInMay to promote the benefits of physical activity and nutritious diet choices.
