In Lithuania, Statehood Day is a public holiday celebrated on July 6 to commemorate the coronation of Mindaugas as King of Lithuania in 1253.

Celebrations during this holiday include a living history event with craftsmen and musicians recreating medieval life in Kernave, capital of Lithuania at that time.

Fairs, concerts and other festivities usually occur in Vilnius, today’s capital, with special exhibitions in the Palace of Grand Dukes.
