Full of sweet and salty goodness, pretzels dipped in dark, milk or white chocolate are a mouthwatering delight. They are being celebrated especially on October 7 each year on the initiative of a Brooklyn-based confectioner known as Fatty Sundays that introduced the holiday in 2019.
Chocolate covered pretzels originated from a blend of European and American culinary traditions, primarily credited to a German baker named Herr Franz Joseph Leibniz in Hamburg during the 16th century.
Today, Pennsylvania is considered the heartland of chocolate covered pretzel production in the USA, and is often called the "Pretzel Belt".
