Caramel Day

Made by adding milk and fat to a sugary syrup heated to a light brown color, caramel is used to flavor desserts, pastries, and candies. Derived from the Spanish word caramelo, meaning caramelized sugar, caramel candies were being made in the Americas in the 1600s and by the 19th century over 400 companies were making caramel candies.
